Under the Building Act 2004, most minor plumbing work (like replacing taps, fixing leaks, or replacing a toilet) is exempt from building consent. However, work that alters the building structure, changes pipe routes significantly, or involves new drainage connections will typically require an Auckland Council building consent. We'll advise you at the quoting stage whether your project needs consent.

If your Auckland home was built before the 1970s, there's a good chance it still has galvanised steel pipes. These corrode from the inside, reducing water pressure and potentially contaminating your water with rust. We recommend replacing galvanised pipes with modern PEX or copper. A full re-pipe for a standard three-bedroom Auckland home typically runs between $8,000 and $15,000, but it's one of the best investments you can make for your property.
